Submitting Requests for Temporary Teaching Overload Compensation

   Overview

This article outlines the steps to submit and monitor requests for teaching temporary teaching overload.

  2. Step 2

To submit a new request, click on the Submit Overload Request button at the top left of the page.

  3. Step 3

The UGA SSO page is displayed.

Enter your information into the required fields and click the LOGIN button.

  4. Step 4

The Request for Temporary Teaching Overload Compensation Smartsheet form is displayed.

Complete the *mandatory fields with the appropriate information.

Note: Be sure to use your MyID email when submitting the form. Using your MyID will allow you to monitor the status of your request(s).

  5. Step 5

At the bottom of the form, there is an Optional Section for you to include any notes or upload files that your unit may need to view as the request(s) move through the workflow process.

  6. Step 6

Once you complete the form, click the Submit button.

  7. Step 7

Workflow Approvals: After submission, your request will enter the workflow shown above. The request will route for approval from both the requesting and home department heads (if different). Once both have been approved, the request will route for approval from both the requesting and home deans (if different). Finally, the Office of Faculty Affairs and the Vice Provost for Academic Affairs will approve. After those approvals, the request is fully approved.

Submit Manager Self Service (MSS) Request in OneUSG Connect: Once the request is fully approved, the submitter and any home unit delegates will be notified via email. A PDF will be automatically generated, which the home unit can use to submit an MSS Request in OneUSG Connect to request the compensation increase.

Chief Business Officers (CBO) have the ability to assign delegates in this process. These are individuals who can view all overload requests for your school, college, or unit. To set view-only delegates, click the Set-View-Only Delegates button.

  9. Step 9

Chief Business Officers also have the ability to document their deans' signature authority, if faculty affairs functions have been delegated. CBOs can click the Document Dean's Signature Authority button and attach documentation of delegated signature authority. Then, add the MyID email for the delegate in the faculty affairs section. These individuals will then receive the dean's approval notifications rather than the dean.

  10. Step 10

Once you have submitted the form, at the bottom of the page, you can view the status of your request(s) in the Dashboard Views section. In this section, you can view the status of overload requests for your unit by clicking on the appropriate button based on your role.
